The Logan Family History

As told by Jeanne Logan

Jeanne Clarke Logan was born in Richmond, VA, in 1925.  She met Gordon Eugene Logan at high school in Washington, D. C.  After Gordon's service in the U. S. Navy during WW II, they were married in 1947.  Jeanne worked in the Department of Justice from the time she graduated from high school until their first daughter Linda was born in 1951; their second daughter Lesa was born in 1954.  Gordon's career was with the CIA in the Washington D. C. area except for two extended overseas assignments in Germany and in the Philippines.

Upon completion of the Philippines assignment the family returned to the United States.  They were traveling back to Virginia by car and, by chance, visited Ouray, CO - they decided this was the area where they would reside after Gordon's retirement.

Gordon took early retirement from the CIA in 1971 and he and Jeanne made their way back to Colorado with their two horses in tow where they established their Double L Ranch on County Road #1 on Log Hill Mesa.  Gordon and Jeanne rallied their neighbors on Log Hill to form the Log Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1976.  Gordon served as the first Fire Chief until the Fire Protection District was formed in 1979, at which point Gordon was elected Chairman of the Board.

Supplemental historical records are included in this history presentation.  Also the typed transcript of the interview, a CD recording and a DVD tour of Jeanne's Double L Ranch.
